Cancelling a job you accepted

ContractorsUpdated 23 Sept 2026

Sometimes it cannot be helped. Cancel from the job in your dashboard, and do it as early as you can.

A reason is required

The owner is emailed your reason. They have arranged their plans around you — often from another country — so a real explanation matters.

Cancelling late

A cancellation close to the start date carries a penalty and a reliability strike. The deadline and the amount are shown before you confirm.

Reliability strikes

Repeated late cancellations suspend your profile for review. This is not about punishing a genuine emergency; it is about the owner who booked you being able to rely on the calendar.

Your standing is visible in your dashboard.

The alternative

If you can still do the job on a different day, message the owner through the booking first. Moving a date is far better for everyone than cancelling.
