What documents you need

We check every contractor before their profile goes live. This is what protects the whole marketplace — owners are hiring someone they have never met, often from another country.

What to upload

• Police Certificate of Character — required for everyone. It is re-checked every year.
• Public liability insurance — the certificate, plus the policy number and its expiry date.
• Government-issued ID — passport, driver's licence or national ID.
• Trade licence — required for electricians and other licensed trades.

How your documents are handled

They are stored separately from everything else on the site, in private storage that is not reachable from any public address. Only our review team can open them, and every time one is opened it is recorded.

They are kept while your account is active, and for a limited period after it closes in case a question comes up about a verification we carried out. After that they are permanently erased. You can ask us to erase them sooner.

Expiry dates

We record the expiry on your certificate and your insurance. You will be emailed before they run out, so you have time to renew without your profile going dark. See Annual re-verification.
